島ぜんぶでおーきな祭-第7回沖縄国際映画祭-

Yumie (the mistress of Utsubo-ya), Yuriko (a manageress of a snack bar), and Toshie (the wife of a fisherman, who has trouble getting on with her mother-in-law because she has failed to produce a grandchild) are friends, all living in Amakusa, Kumamoto. They are hoping somehow to revitalize the economically diminishing and lackluster town, but men around them are full of themselves and the only thing they do is getting drunk, having much pride as those born and bred in Kyusyu. Having been frustrated by the men's incompetence, they come across the idea of reviving its red-light district by reopening a traditional Japanese restaurant utilizing a century-old former geisha house. Joined also by Harumi, who has returned from Tokyo following divorce, their project of revitalizing the town, the outcome of which rests with their feminine ideas and initiative, gets under way…
